I Love Pesto

Mmmmm…the smell of fresh basil is intoxicating

Pesto is the perfect summer condiment. It can be used in so many ways. I plan to cover steamed zucchini and squash in it and then use the leftovers on a toasted veggie sandwich. I used a really simple recipe found here.

Chopped walnuts and basil

 Garlic: prevents cancer and protects the heart 

Not the prettiest pic ever, but oh so delicious

Warm pesto can be used:

  • as a side dish with warm sautéed veggies
  • added to shrimp with a pinch of red pepper flakes
  • on pasta with veggies

Cold pesto can be added to:

  • pasta salad
  • tomato mozzarella salad
  • veggie sandwiches
  • in a pita

  1. love this pesto! walnut is a great switch up – so flavourful and nutritive – and the addition of garlic is fabulous!
